Emergencies

We can appreciate how much of a stressful and painful ordeal it can be when having a toothache, or dental emergency, and the urgency to have it looked at and sorted out as soon as possible. This is why at Forest Dental Care we can offer a number of emergency solutions in helping ease your pain.

During surgery hours
If you a registered NHS patient at the practice you will be able to benefit from our emergency appointment services, please call the surgery as early as you can, between 9am-10am Monday to Friday, to enable us to endeavour to see the same day, according to your situation. Private patients can call any time.

Out of surgery hours
If you are experiencing a dental emergency out of the surgery hours, you can still telephone the practice where you will be received by a recorded message giving you further information of what to do.

NHS out-of-hours or emergency dental care

NHS dental care is always available in an emergency if it is clinically necessary, whether or not you have a regular dentist. There out of hour’s emergency dental service that runs for North East London residents only who need urgent dental treatment when their practice is closed.
Patients can call the out of hours Emergency Dental Service on 111 to speak to a dentist for free advice and help finding emergency treatment.
The out of hours opening times are:

  • Weekends & Bank Holidays 24 hours

From 14th December 2020, emergency and out-of-hours NHS dental care will cost you £23.80. You will not have to pay for emergency or out-of-hours care if you’re entitled to free NHS dental treatment. NHS fees are payable, subject to certain exemptions, for all work undertaken at evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Proof of exemption needs to be provided.

Non registered patients

If you are not registered with any dentist or visiting from abroad and are finding it difficult in getting an appointment to be seen with a dentist, we offer on the day, private, emergency appointments. You can call the practice and a member of our team will be happy to assist you in booking an emergency appointment as soon as possible. Emergency patients can benefit from;

  • An on the day/next day appointment
  • No registration needed
  • One off emergency fee of £80 to £120 for emergency appointments made Mon to Sun.

Our emergency fee is payable at the time of making the emergency appointment, if in person by cash or any major debit/credit cards which can also be taken over the phone when calling the practice. Only once payment has been made, can the emergency appointment be booked and confirmed.
The emergency fee is for the appointment; where you can rest assure the dentist will do what ever treatment necessary to take you out of pain for no additional cost. The only treatment this fee does not include is extractions.

EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS
Emergency appointments are booked for a small period of time, enough to do whatever is necessary to take patients out of pain, but not long enough to carry out extensive treatments. Additional appointments would need to be booked after the initial emergency appointment depending on hat the dentist advises. If the solution is for a course of antibiotics or any prescriptive medicines, the dentist will write out the sufficient prescription which can then be taken to any pharmacy and be collected, again if there is any treatment that is required after this it can be booked after the initial emergency appointment.

(Care/advice at home)
If you’re in discomfort, you can first try helping yourself by taking painkillers. If you feel the problem can wait until normal practice hours, you can call NHS Direct on 111 for advice about treating yourself.
