EMERGENCY APPOINTMENTS

Emergency appointments are used to ease immediate discomfort. They do not include extensive treatment, and further appointments with your dentist may be necessary.

Home Care/Advice:

When faced with discomfort, over-the-counter pain relievers may provide temporary relief. NHS Direct can be reached on 111 for guidance on self-treatment options.

NHS out-of-hours or emergency dental care

NHS dental care is always available in an emergency if it is clinically necessary, whether or not you have a regular dentist. Patients can call the 111 out-of-hours service for free advice and help finding emergency treatment. The out of hours opening times are:

  • Weekdays 6.30pm – 8am
  • Weekends & Bank Holidays 24 hours

From 1 April 2025, emergency and out-of-hours NHS dental care will cost you £27.40. You will not have to pay for emergency or out-of-hours care if you’re entitled to free NHS dental treatment. Proof of exemption needs to be provided.

Forest Dental Care

Non registered patients

If you are not registered with any dentist or are visiting from abroad and finding it difficult to get emergency treatment, you can call the practice and a member of our team will be happy to assist you in booking a private appointment.

A deposit is payable at the time of making the appointment. Once this is done, the booking is confirmed. The balance due for the private emergency appointment, together with payment for any related treatment done on the day, is payable prior to leaving the practice. Our dentists will do everything they can to get you out of immediate pain, including issuing a prescription for antibiotics if necessary.
